The Role
Due to continued growth and ongoing success, MSE has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Drafter with demonstrated experience in one or more aspects of building structural engineering. The Senior Structural Drafter is a qualified professional with extensive experience in the design and drafting of structural, and corporate infrastructure projects, specialising in bridge design. This position will undertake structural and civil infrastructure projects for a broad range of clients, including Local Government, State Government and private developers.
Minimum Requirements
Key responsibilities

Design/drafting development & supervision all structural infrastructure, including but not limited to concrete, masonry, timber & steel building elements, slabs, footings, foundations, hardstand, retaining walls & pathways etc.

Prepare Civil/Structural detailed engineering drawings, shop & fabrication drawings under supervision of Senior colleagues;

Ensure all works to be performed as per the job specifications, guidelines and procedures as advised by senior team members;

Prepare “As Built” drawings following receipt of project drawings from project team;

Undertake back drafting of drawings to reflect corrections that are required to be made;

Revise documentation incorporating subsequent modification;

Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and mature judgement in anticipating and solving design/drafting problems;

Comply with quality management systems and demonstrate ability to prevent inconsistencies;

Manage drafting operation and procedures;

Demonstrate experience, communication and leadership skills and ability to deal with both internal and external customer’s;

Work with statutory authorities as required and comply with Council & Legislative standards;

Provide a high level of technical and design input into a variety of structural related projects.

Prepare specifications and other tender documentation and produce clear and concisely written reports.

Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and mature judgments in anticipating and solving design problems.

A Key Performance Indicator for this role is to play a founding role in the development of a system or procedure, which either expedites the drafting/design development process or brings an element of innovation to the project/s or documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Requirements

Tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Engineering

Minimum 10 years' experience in related engineering background

Well versed in Australian Standards, Typical Industrial Practice & NCC requirements

Competence in Microsoft office packages

Client focused (both internal and external clients)

The ability to be an attentive and active listener who command attention and can manage group process during presentations

Strong design capabilities with bridges, roads, earthworks, stormwater management, water & sewer reticulation;

Highly competent Civil 3D & AutoCAD skills, 12D experience is not mandatory

Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, Local & State guidelines

Tertiary or higher education qualifications relevant to engineering

Experience with stormwater modelling and reporting would be considered favourable
